Christmas 2003
with Family and Friends

Christmas 2003 in Birmingham, Alabama.

My family threw a wine and cheese party for their friends and, of course, asked me to cater and present it -- handouts and all.

(my father and me)

Per their request, I presented two Italian wines (Carpenè Malvolti Prosecco and a Sangiovese/Cab Tuscan red called Capezzana) along with two Texas wines (spicy Bluebonnet Blush from Spicewood and Sauvignon Blanc from Spicewood).

We enjoyed the wine with an assortment of cheeses -- Gorgonzola, Cravanzina, Pecorino Re Nero, Pure Luck fresh goat, Edam, and even some local Chèvre.

With my cheese gourmand husband, Patrick

Who can resist a stinky cheese?

The family - still fairly sober

My niece Melissa (lower left in pic above, 6 yrs old) also loves cheese.
She is learning to write and type on the computer!
She also likes to draw and compose poetry.
Below is her most recent work.

"Mouse Lounging in Cheese" by Melissa

The young, innovative artist, Melissa, has successfully combined
modern computer techniques with elementary tools of art.

Her vibrant marker strokes depict a mouse sitting in a chair
made of Gouda alongside a table of Swiss.

The bold, typefaced rhymes reveal the mouse's (and the artist's)
determination, enthusiasm and playfulness.

Vive le cheese!
